Atkinson, Rowan
Rowan Atkinson was born in Consett Co. Durham in 1955 and is perhaps best known worldwide for his portrayal of rubber faced and feeble-minded Mr Bean. However, as this is a comedy website (sorry, but I don't get it), I'd like to say that he's best known as Edmund Blackadder in his many guises. Atkinson wrote the first series, The Black Adder, with Richard Curtis but left the writing of subsequent series to Curtis and Ben Elton. He was also a member of the cast of Not The Nine O'Clock News along with Pamela Stephenson, Griff Ryhs Jones and Mel Smith. Atkinson's film work includes Scooby Doo, Love Actually, Four Weddings and A Funeral and Johnny English. In the early months of 2009 Atkinson played the part of Fagin in the West End Production of Lionel Bart's Oliver!
