Head

The second episode of Blackadder II, Head, contains a great piece of dialogue that has passed into common usage. You know the one, when Blackadder is inspecting his new staff (the Family Ploppy) in his new role as Lord High Executioner, he's quite clearly bored with the whole charade and tells it like it is, 'the long winter evenings must just fly by.'

Anyway... as we've established, Blackadder is made the new Lord High Executioner and ever the one to be efficient with his time, he decides to juggle the running order (of executions) so that he can have the latter part of the week off. But of course, he has forgotten just how flighty the Queen is and very shortly, Lord Farrow, one of the men whose appointments had been brought forward is first granted an interview with his wife and then, even worse, a pardon.

So we see Blackadder with a bag on his head impersonating Lord Farrow to his wife, 'My little pumpkinywumpkiny', and then by sheer stroke of luck, he has to do it again, this time as Lord Ponsonby with the Queen. This is because, after getting off the hook with Farrow - Baldrick cut off the wrong person's head - the awful realisation descends that it was Ponsonby's head that he removed...
