Money

I'm quite liking these puns I'm making on the titles of Blackadder II, so let's go for it again... As usual, we are not short changed with the fourth episode, Money. It starts with a crash, 'I am the baby eating Bishop of Bath and Wells', and ends with some excellent portrait work.

It's a top episode of a top top series, home to a great quote or two, including Blackadder's 'seen it, pinched it, spent it' line when Percy generously offers him his life savings to get out of the bit of a fix that he finds himself in with the Bank of the Black Monks of St. Herod. We see Percy perform alchemy and nearly, so nearly succeed in making gold. Well the stuff he made did begin with a 'g'.

As usual, there is no accounting for what the Queen will do next, and Stephen Fry's Melchett is deliciously wicked in joining the Queen in taking the rise out of Blackadder, yet dissolves into abject fear when the Queen tells him she going to have him executed 'for taking the mickey out of my beloved Edmund so cruelly'.
