Beer
Blackadder II, episode 5, Beer once again sees our hero juggling too many balls than is humanly possible. But with luck, he seems to manage to get away with things.
At breakfast one morning, Blackadder receives a letter from his frightfully puritanical (and very rich) Aunt and Uncle Whiteadder. They wish to visit him in order to discuss his inheritance... and they're coming tonight!
Meanwhile, Edmund is summoned to court by a frantic Queen who fears that Lord Melchett is dying. Initially, Blackadder is buoyed by the thought that Melchett may indeed be dying. However, he is disappointed to ascertain that he is, as a matter of fact, merely suffering from a hangover.
As in the way of us boys, some idle banter passes between the two on the subject of who can drink the most, and a drinking session is arranged for Blackadder's house that evening. Mmm, isn't he double booked?
Well of course he is, and we see some jolly japes as Blackadder struggles to keep those balls in the air. Best bit has to be the drunken Monk entering the room where Lord and Lady Whiteadder are being entertained and commending Blackadder on the party, 'Great booze-up Edmund', followed by Blackadder's skilful evasion of the wrath of his aunt.
And we also hear the Queen's speech, 'I may have the body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart and stomach of a concrete elephant!' More borrowing and tweaking from Shakespeare, but what the heck...
