Chains

Blackadder II comes to an end with episode 6, Chains. Both Blackadder and Melchett are kidnapped (in the palace - and by the simple trick of one foreign agent (Lee Cornes) saying, 'Excuse me, Meister...', while another foreign agent knocks the victim out with a mallet).

After some discourse with their Spanish jailer, the real brains behind the kidnap operation, Prince Ludwig the Indestructible (Hugh Laurie), reveals himself. Unfortunately for the boys kidnaps have been all the rage just recently and the Queen has decided only to pay one more ransom and Ludwig knows this (Melchett had note scrawled from the Queen in his pocket). Even more unfortunately, she can't decide which one of her two faves to save, so instead she opts for a fancy dress party.

But what does Ludwig want? We soon find out that he desires the throne of England and he's prepared to do anything to get it. We also learn that Blackadder is a desperate man and wants nothing more than to be spared with his life. So gives he Ludwig the information that he needs to get into the palace and take the throne.

Now, he may be many things, but our Blackadder is no traitor and as soon as he is able to escape, he rushes back to the palace in order to foil Ludwig's evil scheme...
