Time

Some Young Ones episodes are more surreal than others. This one, Time, is up there as one of the more surreal. First shown on BBC2 on 5 June 1984, essentially there's a time warp through which the boys' house is drawn. Before this happens (I think it was before, it may have been afterwards) we see them in a fake episode of Dallas as the opening credits roll. Then Neil wakes up from his dream to Vyvyan's dulcet tones telling the local church bells to 'shut up you bastards' before Rik also wakes up... in bed with a woman (played by Jennifer Saunders). Unbeknownst to him she is actually an escaped murderess by the name of Helen Mucus (not Helen Back) - as revealed by the one eyed pirate radio disc-jockey Captain Blood played by Robbie Coltrane. As Rik tries to claim that he's had relations with the girl, she reveals that she merely climbed into an empty bed so he and Vyvyan engage in their virgin / not-a-virgin dance which ends with Rik admitting under duress (Vyvyan aims a Howitzer at him) that he is a virgin.

As Mike is trying his hand with Helen, and before the boys realise who or what she is, she's flattened by the front door - the time shift has occurred and Sir Boring Old fart enters the building. He kidnaps Neil and Helen before delivering Neil at the feet of three peasants played by Hale & Pace and Paul Merton. After Neil's arrival back at the house, there's a quick showing of Jester Balowski's Medieval Torture Hour on the telly before realisation dawns that they've been transported back in time - funny how the telly still works - it's just that the shows are different).
