Sick

This was one of my favourites - probably second only to Bambi if the truth be known. Anyway, the boys are sick with colds. So there's snot about and plenty of it and in the days before zero tolerance meant what it does now, in this episode it's the guiding principle.  The episode also contains my favourite exchange. Maybe you remember it too?  I've included a clip from YouTube, which doesn't have all of it, but enough to give you the idea. Basically, Mike brings a fish in to Rik's bedroom (just after Vyvyan has thrown a petrol bomb in there, causing a rather large hole to open between Neil's and Rik's bedrooms).  He asks,

What's this?

and is answered by Vyvyan,

It's a fish, Mike.

Oh, thanks.

He then comes back, still carrying the fish, and says,

All right, I didn't finish my sentence. I meant to say, what's this fish doing in my bed?

Again, Vyvyan answers,

It's not in your bed, Mike.

And so it goes on. The next time Mike come back, he is without his piscine friend, but asks,

What's this fish doing in my bed?

What fish?

So you see, there is so much more to the Young Ones than the occasional extreme violence and bullying which goes on. Some of the word play, as in this example, is sublime and the plots are tightly written and brilliantly acted. Anyway, here's the clip (Mike comes in at around 1:30)...
